Thanks to a partnership with UVA’s Libraries, the College at Wise Library is pleased to offer access to JSTOR, as well as all of SAGE Publications, SAGE Research Methods Online, and Gallup Analytics. Below are descriptions of the databases:
JSTOR’s digital archival collections include more than 2000 journals covering over 50 academic disciplines along with thousands of monographs and other educational materials. At present, JSTOR contains Arts & Sciences collections, a multi-disciplinary Life Sciences collection, discipline-specific collections across several fields, and four primary source collections. Collections include the complete archival record for each title. Journal records begin with the first volume and issue published and extends to a publication date in the past three to five years. JSTOR allows searching of its archival collections by author and/or keywords.
SAGE is the world's 5th largest journals publisher. Their portfolio includes more than 950 titles in subject areas encompassing business, humanities, social sciences, and science, technology, and medicine. More than 400 of these journals are published on behalf of learned societies and institutions.
SAGE Research Methods Online is a methods library providing access to more than 1000 books, reference works, journal articles, and instructional videos by world-leading academics from across the social sciences, including the largest collection of qualitative methods books available online from any scholarly publisher.
Gallup Analytics is an online platform that provides subscribers with access to nearly a century of U.S. data and a decade of global tracking data known as the Gallup World Poll. The online platform includes new data and historical trends at the country, state and U.S. city levels. All trends are searchable and exportable.
The databases will be available from both on and off campus. JSTOR is available from the front page of the Library’s website. All of the others are available after clicking the “List of All Databases” link.
If you need any assistance with these databases, please ask one of the librarians. We are happy to help you.
