CHARLESTON, W.Va. - - Host University of Charleston shot a 301 to claim the Mountain East Conference Spring Classic hosted by Berry Hills Country Club Tuesday. The Golden Eagles' Justin Westveer took home medalist honors in the event. Davis Abher's UVa-Wise Cavaliers finished seventh in the event with a team of score of 328. Due to inclement weather, the tournament was shortened to one day.
WISE - - UVa-Wise built a 4-0 lead and held on for a 4-3 win over Glenville State College in game two of a doubleheader Tuesday to take three of four games from the Pioneers in a series that began Friday. Glenville State used a five-run seventh inning to take the opener 10-3 for its only win in the four-game series.
WISE - - Due to field conditions, the UVa-Wise softball games scheduled for today against Concord University have been postponed. The doubleheader has been pushed back to tomorrow, April 11, with games times slated for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Cavalier Field.
BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - - UVa-Wise softball senior pitcher Taylor Brandts has earned the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week award. This is the third time this season Brandts has won the award. The league office made the announcement Monday afternoon.

The King George, Va. native came back in game two to fire two innings of shutout relief to earn her third save of the season as the Cavaliers claimed the sweep with a 7-5 victory.

MARS HILL, N.C. - - A late comeback bid came up short for the UVa-Wise baseball team Tuesday afternoon as the team dropped a 12-8 decision to host Mars Hill. The Cavaliers had the tying run at the plate in the ninth with nobody out but, a hard line drive off the bat of Jordon Turner turned into the first triple play the program has hit into in the last 30 years, allowing the Lions to claim the non-conference victory.

Junior Kristin Gobbi claimed the Offensive Player of the Week award after netting four goals in a 17-12 win over Lincoln Memorial University. Meanwhile, junior McKayla Grasham took home the Defensive Player of the Week honor after scoring three goals, scooping five groundballs and tallying three caused turnovers in the win over the Railsplitters.

Duncan struck out a career-high seven hitters as the sophomore aided his team to a 3-1 win in the opener before freshman Vanvickle surrendered just three hits in a 6-2 win in the series finale.

Ethan Herron had a win at No. 1 doubles alongside senior Andrii Rutynytskyi and added a victory at No. 4 singles. Chris Armistead earned another Cavalier win at No. 3 singles.
WISE - - UVa-Wise dropped a pair of games to Fairmont State University Friday afternoon. The Fighting Falcons won game one 16-0 before a 12-run seventh inning gave the visitors a 14-7 win in the finale.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - - UVa-Wise men's basketball senior forward Taiwo Badmus and sophomore point guard Michal Seals have earned Virginia Sports Information Director (VaSID) All-State honors. Badmus and Seals were both named to the All-State Second Team. The VaSID announced the 2017-18 College Division All-State Men's Basketball Teams Friday morning.
WISE - - The University of Virginia's College at Wise announced Jamie Cluesman as the school's new head women's basketball coach Friday. Cluesman coached the last four seasons at Shepherd University, where she served as an assistant coach for the Rams. She becomes the 17th coach in program history, since the College became a four year institution.
WISE - - Men's tennis was swept, 9-0, while women's tennis earned a 6-3 victory against Salem International University Thursday evening.
