Elizabeth City State University handed the Cavaliers an 85-68 loss in the opening game of the Earl Lloyd Classic in Institute, West Virginia. The Cavs were unable to sustain early momentum, shooting 19-of-46 (41.3 percent) and hitting just 6-of-19 (31.6 percent) three-pointers.
WISE - - Cavalier volleyball was outlasted by the University of Charleston, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16), on Friday night. The Cavs posted 23 kills and 19 assists as they closed out the season inside the Prior Center.

WISE - - UVa-Wise will honor 17 seniors prior to Saturday's kickoff against No. 2 Shepherd University as the team takes part in annual Senior Day ceremonies. When the ball is kicked off, Dane Damron's crew will face its toughest opponent of the year and one that hasn't dropped a conference game in nearly three years.
WISE - - Brent Norford has been named the new director of strength and conditioning at UVa-Wise. Norford comes to the College after most recently serving as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Newberry College.

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - - Notre Dame College built leads of 14-3, 24-13 and 31-21 but needed a late defensive stand to hold off visiting UVa-Wise 31-28 at Mueller Field Saturday. With the win, the Faclons improved to 8-2 and kept their playoff hopes alive. Quarterback Malik Grove passed for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns despite completing just 12-of-25 attempts in the victory.
WISE - - UVa-Wise volleyball fell to West Virginia State University 3-1, (12-25, 25-14, 25-23, 26-24) on Wednesday night.
WISE - - In search of back-to-back winning seasons in nearly a decade, UVa-Wise will visit Notre Dame College Saturday. The Cavaliers are coming off a 65-0 thumping of Virginia - Lynchburg while the Falcons most recently upended Charleston 17-12. While a win would give UVa-Wise consecutive winning seasons for the first time since the 2007 and 2008 seasons, Notre Dame is looking to stay alive in the playoff hunt. The Falcons are currently ranked eighth in the latest NCAA Super Region I rankings.
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - - Marquis Hamilton has been named Mountain East Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the Cavaliers' 65-0 win at Virginia – Lynchburg. The Washington, D.C. native returned a kick 70 yards for a touchdown while averaging 47 yards per return. It is Hamilton's second MEC Player of the Week award of the season. The Marshall transfer also took home the award following his team's 51-41 win over Urbana University.
LYNCHBURG, Va. - - UVa-Wise scored the second most points in school history while limiting Virginia University – Lynchburg to 58 yards of total offense in a 65-0 non-conference victory at City Stadium Saturday. The Cavaliers' defense tallied 16 tackles for loss, including seven sacks in the team's lone non-league affair of the season.

The Cavs (6-19, 2-9) held the Pioneers (0-20, 0-11) to a .112 attack percentage en route to their second conference win of the season.

After falling in the first set, the Cavs (5-19, 1-9) won a close second set but were unable to sustain momentum as they fell to the Bobcats (9-15, 4-6).
WISE - - UVa-Wise will be hosting a fall lacrosse tournament at Carl Smith Stadium Saturday. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. when coach Meghan Dennehy's Cavaliers battle Tusculum College. UVa-Wise will also play Lees – McRae College at 1 p.m., Lincoln Memorial University at 3 p.m. and Georgetown College at 5 p.m.
