USASpending.gov--Where Americans Can See Where Their Money Goes

The Federal Government has launched USASpending.gov, a Web-based compendium that presents where the government contracutal dollars go to budget dollars in an easy to use fashion. Data on the website is largely from sources like the Federal Procurement Data System, containig information about federal contracts; and the Federal Assistance Award Data System, which has information about federal financial assistance such as grants, loans, insurance, and direct subsidies like Social Security. Use the tools that the government provides to answer your questions about funding.
The site includes many user friendly features like the Federal IT Dashboard, analytics and datafeeds. This information is all available now because the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 (Transparency Act) and its requirement of a single searchable website for the public.
